Putting Control Resonant Under A Microscope Is Rewarding In An Unexpected Way https://ift.tt/BWydxQs Over many years, I've written tens of thousands of words covering the Remedy Connected Universe, the Finnish studio's world tying the Alan Wake and Control series together. This is a team that loves rewarding players who notice the smaller details and go off the golden path in search of morsels of understanding. Connecting dots is often much of the fun in a Remedy game.  To my surprise, that side of the developer wasn't on display much in Control Resonant. There are definitely a few nods, and one chain of side quests in particular seems to have greater implications for the studio's future connected-universe games, but overall, I was taken aback by how disinterested Resonant was in tying itself to Remedy's bigger picture. However, it was by looking for those hidden details that I discovered something else I ended up loving about the sequel in a different way. ...

When Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem hit theaters, it introduced the franchise to a generation of new fans. It introduced the Turtles, their sensei Splinter, and new friend April O'Neil. Oh yeah, and it also brought an army of iconic mutants from the original animated series to the big screen for the first time.

Warning: The following contains spoilers for Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Turn around now if you don't want plot points to be revealed.

Still, there were some fans who were less enthusiastic about certain changes made to the Ninja Turtles' origin story. For one, Splinter doesn't come from Japan. Instead, he was a New York City sewer rat that wound up in the ooze. Meanwhile, he and the turtles have more of a father-son relationship than that of a martial arts sensei. They even call him dad.
