There are more than 2,000 Fortnite skins that have been sold in the item shop, but only a few dozen are available on any given day. But Epic has never been content with just the FOMO angle--the company has been dinged by regulatory agencies all over the world for its "dark patterns" and coercive sale techniques. In some very significant ways, the Fortnite item shop is in much better shape now because of the changes those agencies forced Epic to implement--like being able to cancel an errant purchase, and knowing exactly when an item will leave the shop. For the first time, Supergiant Games is making a direct sequel. The developer behind Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre is now working on Hades II, a follow-up to the 2020 roguelike Hades. Below, we go over everything we know about Hades II, including when it's coming out and what systems it's coming out for.

If you haven't checked out the original Hades, you absolutely should in preparation for the sequel. Hades is one of the best games of 2020, utilizing the trappings of a roguelike for an innovative take on storytelling with a reactive script that not many other games have been able to emulate (and those that do, don't do it nearly as well). Plus, it's got some of the best music and voice acting of any game out there, and it reimagines the Greek pantheon with incredible artwork.

Release date

Hades II's official launch date is still up in the air but the game is scheduled to release in early access in Q2 2024. The original Hades was in early access for almost two years, released in early access in December 2018 for PC before officially launching for PC and Switch in September 2020 and then Xbox and PlayStation in September 2021.
