Dragon's Dogma 2 - All Boss Creatures And Monsters

Dragon's Dogma 2 - All Boss Creatures And Monsters https://ift.tt/BMUHsVn

There are numerous beasts and creatures that you face as you journey across the perilous world of Dragon's Dogma 2. They pose a tough challenge due to their sheer size and hard-hitting attacks. Still, taking them out is often rewarding due to the loot that they drop. Plus, these battles are dynamic and engaging, leading to a thrilling adventure you probably bought the game for anyway. Here's our guide on how to defeat giant creatures and monster bosses in Dragon's Dogma 2.

How to beat bosses in Dragon's Dogma 2 - Giant monsters, creatures, and beasts

There are several kinds of terrifying monsters and creatures that act as bosses in Dragon's Dogma 2. You'll encounter them during your travels--sometimes unluckily when you're riding an oxcart. Each beast has its own unique attacks, as well as weak spots that you can exploit. Moreover, there are armored variants, as well as more ragged "gore" versions of these beasts.

Note that boss health pools consist not just of the bar you see at the top of your screen, but the small pips to the left, too. These pips represent how many health bars remain. So, yes, you need to be prepared because, in some cases, it's going to be a battle of attrition. We suggest unlocking additional vocations, as well as learning ultimate techniques from Maisters. We also have a best vocations/class tier list so you know which options are ideal for these challenges.

Medusa or Gorgon

The Medusa/Gorgon is the first "elite" or boss monster that you face, right at the introduction to the campaign. However, this isn't a real fight. If you're up for a challenge, you could try to find a tougher Gorgon that resides in her lair. Although she moves slowly, her gaze can slowly petrify anyone within its radius. You can learn more in our Medusa/Gorgon guide.

Cyclops

The Cyclops is the first regular monster boss in Dragon's Dogma 2. You'll likely encounter one as you're happily exploring the beautiful fields north of Melve. As most Greek Mythology enthusiasts would know, a Cyclops' weakness is its eye. Strike it from afar with an arrow, or climb up to its head to stab it, and you can bring it down with ease.

Griffin

The Griffin is a fairly common boss in Dragon's Dogma 2, with its large shadow looming above to signal its impending arrival. You certainly want to avoid its swooping attacks, as well as its moves when it thrashes around the battlefield. Note that Griffins will attempt to escape if low on health, and the next one you see within the same region will probably be the one you previously encountered. Additionally, it's possible to ride on a Griffin as it attempts to escape. You can even continue attacking it while it's flying. Just hold on for dear life, because it's a long way down.

Ogres and Grim Ogres

Ogres are nasty brutes capable of inflicting a ton of damage with their slow attacks. Both the regular and grim variant will also attempt to grab and squeeze the life out of you and your pawns. One thing of note about the Grim Ogre variant is that it also likes to cling onto cliffs and ledges (more than its regular counterpart). This is usually followed by a leaping strike to those below it.

Minotaur and Goreminotaur

The Minotaur and its scraggly cousin are no pushovers. While you can repeatedly hit the beast's head to deal as much damage as possible, you should still watch out for their devastating charges. We've also noticed that Minotaurs, compared to other bosses in Dragon's Dogma 2, drop different kinds of items. You don't just get materials, but also Ferrystones at times.

Golem

The Golem's attacks are agonizingly slow, though they also pack a punch. While this elemental is a bit of a pushover since you can easily avoid its moves, it's also nigh-impervious to damage unless you hit its weak spots. These weak spots appear as blue glyphs on its head, body, and limbs. You should focus on those that are glowing to whittle down its health.

Chimera and Gorechimera

The Chimera, a fusion of lion, goat, serpent, and all things your nightmares are made of, has several notable abilities. In fact, these are used by its body parts:

  • The lion head primarily does a roar, and it's responsible for swipes and lunges that deal physical damage.
  • The goat head casts a sleep spell similar to Harpies, though in a wider area.
  • Lastly, the snake head can belch acidic liquid, and shoot out flaming projectiles.

All three of its heads count as weak spots. However, we suggest taking out the goat head and snake head beforehand to prevent them from casting their respective abilities. The snake part, when lopped off, even has its own materials that can be looted.

Wight

The Wight is an undead necromancer. It resides deep in cavernous ruins, or in the murky fogs of the marshlands. Wights are often accompanied by the undead and skeletal warriors, which you should eliminate lest they overwhelm you. The Wight can also cast spells, such as homing orbs.

Perhaps the most annoying part about fighting this creature is that it likes to fly around, which means you need to find a higher ledge or rely on ranged/caster DPS for it to be brought low. Once stunned, you can crush its head to deal tremendous damage.

Lesser Dragon and Drake

These false imitations of the True Dragon will goad the Arisen into challenging them to a fight. Although not as numerous as the other boss monsters in Dragon's Dogma 2, they present the toughest challenges you'll face in the wilderness. They can breathe fire, call down lightning, and generate massive explosions. Certain variants have different weak spots, such as the heart (which can be struck when it glows) or pustulent growths that cover their bodies.

Sphinx

The Sphinx is a unique boss in Dragon's Dogma 2. For one thing, she's not immediately hostile when you encounter her. Rather, she wants to play A Game of Wits where she tests your smarts. Don't battle her just yet, or you'll miss out on some amazing rewards. You can learn more about this enemy in our Sphinx riddles and solutions guide.

These are the Dragon's Dogma 2 boss monsters and creatures that we'd like to talk about for now. There are a few others that we won't spoil in this article because it's better for you to encounter them on your own. We hope you enjoy discovering (and fighting) them as much as we did.
