While the console hasn't been officially unveiled yet, Sony did mention that it is increasing investment in its "next-generation platform" while also working out how to deal with the global component shortage crisis driven by various global factors currently. Responding to questions, Sony president and CEO Hiroki Totoki explained that the rising costs for vital components like RAM would have an impact on its PS6 plans. "We have not yet decided on at what timing we will launch the new console, or at what prices," Totoki said during the call. "We would like to really observe and follow the situation. Chance Perdomo, one of the leads in Prime Video's Gen V and Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, died on Saturday in a motorcycle accident. Perdomo was 27.

Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television said in a statement that, "The entire Gen V family is devastated by the sudden passing of Chance Perdomo. A statement from the team behind Gen V specifically said, "Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person."

The statement continued: "We are so sorry for Chance's family, and we are grieving the loss of our friend and colleague. Hug your loved ones tonight."
