Hades 2 has you collecting all sorts of materials and resources, in between hectic battles. Naturally, you need certain equipment to get the job done. Here's our guide to help you unlock all Gathering Tools in Hades 2.

How to unlock all Gathering Tools in Hades 2

There are four Gathering Tools in Hades 2. These are the Crescent Pick, Silver Spade, Tablet of Peace, and Rod of Fishing. You can access and unlock these via the Silver Pool (i.e. Melinoe's room in the Crossroads hub).

However, be reminded that you can only equip one Gathering Tool for each run. As such, you have to think about the resources that you really need at any given time if you're going out to farm for them.

Unlock requirements for Gathering Tools

First things first: You need to complete the Night's Craftwork incantation via the cauldron at the Crossroads. It requires 1x Moly, a yellow flower found in Erebus. Once the incantation is finished, a small pentagram with unlockable tools will appear in Melinoe's room.

• Crescent Pick - Requires 1x Ashes, which are commonly found as rewards in dungeons.
• Silver Spade - Requires 10x Silver. You need to equip the Crescent Pick, then use it to collect from Silver nodes in the Erebus zone.
• Tablet of Peace - Requires 5x Silver and 5x Psyche. Apart from collecting Silver using the Crescent Pick, you also need Psyche, a resource that's found in dungeon rooms.
• Rod of Fishing - This requires 2x Fate Fabric and 1x Bronze:
  • Fate Fabric can be purchased from the Wretched Broker vendor or ordered from Charon's Chest. You can learn more in our Arcana resources guide.
  • Bronze can be collected from deposits in the surface, but the way to get there is quite complicated. You can learn all the details in our surface world/wards guide.

How to use the Crescent Pick

Given that the Crescent Pick is the first unlockable Gathering Tool in Hades 2, you're bound to use it often. Assuming you have it equipped during a dungeon run, simply walk up to a mineral deposit or valid object. Then, press the interact button to start collecting. These are the resources that you can collect:

• Silver - Erebus
• Limestone - Oceanus
• Glass Rock/G.Rock - Fields of Mourning
• Marble - Tartarus
• Plasma - Realm of Chaos
• Bronze - Surface world (i.e. City of Ephyra and Rifts of Thessaly)

How to use the Silver Spade

When equipped, the Silver Spade allows you to collect seedlings. If you spot a mound of dirt in certain rooms, walk up to it and press the Dig button. These are the seeds and items that you can dig up:

• Nightshade - Erebus
• Cattail - Oceanus
• Wheat - Fields of Mourning
• Poppy - Tartarus
• Origin - Realm of Chaos
• Garlic - City of Ephyra
• Mystery Seeds - Can sometimes pop up as a reward.
• Bath Salts - While Bath Salts are normally purchased from the Wretched Vendor, you might also find some via rare digging spots in dungeons. This item is also needed to romance characters in the game.

Note that seeds can be planted in your garden at the Crossroads. You then have to clear several encounters until they're ready to be harvested.

How to use the Tablet of Peace

If you have the Tablet of Peace, you can interact with chubby spirits found randomly in dungeon rooms. In turn, they'll give you a lot of Psyche. The resource is required for those who want to activate a lot of Arcana Cards.

How to use the Rod of Fishing

Among all the Gathering Tools in Hades 2, the Rod of Fishing is probably the last one that you'll get to unlock due to the necessary materials. Once you have it, you can head to fishing spots that appear randomly in some dungeon chambers/areas. These are denoted by bubbles in the pool of water, as well as the Fish command.

You'll then see little splashes in the water, and you should wait until you see a more noticeable splash. That's your queue to press the interact button once more, whereupon you'd be able to catch a sea creature. In some cases, a minigame might ensue. It requires you to press the button whenever the fish moves to the middle of the blue circle in the pond. Note that the fish you catch can be sold to the Wretched Vendor in exchange for Bones (i.e. the resource used to purchase some of his goodies).
