With sprites giving everybody a bonus ability, and Overrides fundamentally changing the way the game works in the middle of matches, we've got kind of a large pile of gimmicks that show up in matches at random, if they show up at all. It's made for a disorienting and inconsistent experience that's difficult to strategize for, because there's no real status quo to get used to. It's a big mess, and it seems to be affecting player numbers in a big way, both for the core Battle Royale mode and Fortnite as a whole. The thing about battle royale as a genre is that it's already, by its nature, varied enough from match to match. Players will soon be able to serve the Emperor of Mankind and slay heretics on his behalf when Saber Interactives Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines II fully drops later next week. Some may be able to play a little bit earlier if they purchased the game's premium version.

Pre-loading availability

Those playing on the Xbox Series X|S can start pre-loading the game now, no matter which version of the game they purchased. Those who purchased the Gold or Ultra edition for PlayStation 5 can also start pre-loading it now. However, if they purchase the standard edition on PlayStation 5, pre-loading will be available on September 7 at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET. Those playing on PC will not be able to pre-load the game.

Early access for PC

Those who purchased the Gold or Ultra edition will have full access to the game on September 5 or 6, depending on where they live. Below is a list of when it'll be available.
