Call Of Duty Modders Add Skateboarding And Minecraft To Modern Warfare 2
Modders have recently added new ways to play 2009's Modern Warfare 2, and videos are going viral, showcasing skateboarding in this classic Call of Duty game. Mechanics from games like Skate 2 were added with mods, and players can now kickflip and grind rails around their favorite Modern Warfare 2 maps. There's also a mod that puts Call of Duty players in Minecraft's sandbox world.
As shown below in the video shared by "Chasm," Call of Duty operators are seen pulling off several maneuvers on skateboards using game mechanics from Skate 2. These stunts include faceplanting on Rust, grinding rails on Terminal, and skating through the streets of Karachi.
In addition to skateboarding, modders also included a Minecraft mod for Modern Warfare 2. As shown in the video shared by "Kiyy," this modded version of MW2 loads the player into a Minecraft world with a custom loadout. This footage is shown as a Free-for-All game mode, and the player switches between various Modern Warfare 2 guns before decimating Minecraft pigs and sheep with the Spas-12 shotgun.
It’s uncertain whether Activision will try to axe these mods, especially given the copyright issues involved, but both the Minecraft and Skate 2 mods are currently available on GitHub. It seems a theater mode mod is also in the works for Modern Warfare 2, allowing players to view and edit clips from their matches.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 arrives on October 23, but in the meantime, players can try something different with mashups of Skate 2 and Minecraft. Modern Warfare 4 will release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC. The game will include a full campaign, multiplayer, and the return of Infinity Ward's DMZ extraction mode.
