Craig Mazin remarks on the difficult position Nico Parker was in as a performer, saying, "It was important for us to present the audience with a Sarah that we felt we could follow for the rest of the series." Merle Dandridge, who also played Marlene in the original game, discuses growing into playing the role again. "It's another thing to step in front of the camera and embody her with my own instrument. I had a couple of things on my side... I aged into her a little bit and I guess my deep passion and love for her."
