Year Four Anniversary Collection Event: Premium Cosmetics And Free Rewards

Apex's fourth anniversary event allows players to obtain Heirloom Shards easily.

Apex Legends Season 16: Revelry just launched, and developer Respawn Entertainment is kicking things off in style, with loads of colorful new cosmetics introduced to the game via the Revelry update. But the Revelry battle pass isn't the only source of stylish new loot--today also marks the beginning of Apex's latest limited-time event, the fourth annual Anniversary Collection Event.

Unlike last year's Anniversary Collection Event, which rewarded players who completed the collection with a Prestige Skin, 2023's celebration is taking things in a different direction. Instead of a Prestige Skin or Heirloom Weapon, players who purchase all 24 Collection Event cosmetics will receive a set of Heirloom Shards, which they can spend in the in-game Mythic Store to unlock an Heirloom or Prestige Skin of their choosing. Apex's second year anniversary event also offered Heirloom Shards as a reward, and players are glad to see this party favor return for Apex's fourth birthday celebration.

The new event also has another surprise--many of the cosmetic items in the collection were designed by artists from the Apex Legends community. Respawn frequently sources art from Apex fans, so it's not too surprising that Apex's anniversary cosmetics were made for players, by players. Still, it's a nice way for developers to acknowledge the dedication and support of Apex's playerbase. The skins themselves seem to be split between an underground rave theme and a superhero aesthetic, with Bangalore's Cosmic Enforcer skin closely resembling an outfit worn by Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel.
