Resident Evil Could Have Its Biggest Opening Weekend Ever With Its New Movie https://ift.tt/kavV1jp Weapons director Zach Cregger's Resident Evil movie hits theaters on September 17, and analysts predict it will set a record for the franchise. While the majority of the live-action movies turned a decent profit off of a relatively small budget, Cregger's take on the IP is currently projected to have the best opening weekend by a comfortable margin. That's according to the official publication of the National Association of Theater Owners, Box Office Pro. The survival-horror movie is predicted to bring in between $40 and $50 million in its North American opening weekend, which would be almost double Resident Evil: Afterlife's $26.6 million weekend from way back in 2010. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts, aka BAFTA, has announced its winners for its 2023 Game Awards. Games such as God of War Ragnarok, Vampire Survivors, and Tunic are all walking away with awards.

Vampire Survivors was able to secure the win for the Best Game, beating out other titles such as Cult of the Lamb, Stray, and Elden Ring. Other games, such as God of War Ragnorok, left the show with six awards in categories such as Animation and Audio Achievement. Meanwhile, Elden Ring earned its team a pair of rewards for Multiplayer Game and Original Property.

Late last year in December, during The Game Awards, Elden Ring won Game of The Year, Best Game Direction, and a handful of other awards. In comparison, God of War Ragnorok won awards such as Best Narrative, Best Music and Score, and a few others.
