Amazon Reveals 4 New Echo Devices, And You Can Preorder Them Now
Amazon has unveiled its upcoming slate of new Echo devices that it'll launch at the end of this month, and it runs the full gamut of Amazon's Alexa-focused brand. From an all-new Echo Show and its gorgeous screen down to a smart speaker and a surprisingly affordable set of wireless earbuds, Amazon has plenty of new ways to get you chatting with Alexa. The kicker, though, is that nothing in this slate will cost you more than $100, and that certainly makes it all worth a look.
Echo Show 5
$90
The 5th edition of Amazon's Echo Show device doesn't try to fix what isn't broken. It's still the same device that'll stream music, TV and movies, that'll let you video call your friends and family, that can control your Smart Home, and which can also be a simple digital picture frame--but now it's got better sound quality, a better screen, and an extra mic so that it can catch what you're saying more accurately. The Echo Show 5 ships May 31.
Echo Show 5 Kids
$100
It does everything that a regular Echo can do, but it keeps everything kid-friendly with customizable parental controls that you can tailor to your liking. And your purchase includes a year of Amazon Kids+, a subscription that provides access to all sorts of music, TV, movies, and audiobooks geared toward children, all without advertising. Like the standard Echo Show 5, the Echo Show 5 Kids will release on May 31.
Echo Pop
$40
If all you need is a Bluetooth smart speaker that includes full Alexa support--meaning it can stream Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and the like on its own--then the brand-new Echo Pop is your device. It's got very few frills and doesn't look like much, but that's the point--it's just a nice, affordable little portable speaker that can play whatever you want, with or without a phone providing the music. You can get your hands on an Echo Pop on May 31.
Echo Buds
$40
While name-brand wireless earbuds from Apple and Google will run you upwards of $100, Amazon's new Echo Buds are dropping in June for a mere $40. Designed to be used with Alexa voice commands in the Alexa app on your phone, the Echo Buds can be connected to multiple devices at the same time and seamlessly switch between them. And don't worry, the Echo Buds also support Siri and Google Assistant if you'd rather talk to them than Alexa. The Echo Buds drop on June 7.
