We recently went hands-on with the game--you can check out the video preview below--and our immediate takeaway was that The Coalition hasn't skipped a beat as it still knows how to put together a Gears game that looks and feels great. Set during the cataclysmic events of Emergence Day, Gears of War: E-Day tells the story of humanity's first encounter with the Locust. Outgunned and caught by surprise, it's up to Marcus Fenix to rally the survivors and turn the tide of the conflict. The newest PlayStation system software update has arrived, but don't expect much in the way of major changes. The new update, Version 23.01-07.40.00, improves system performance and stability and improves "usability" for some screens, Sony said in the patch notes.

This is the first PS5 update since April's 23.01-07.20.00, which was also a minor update improved stability and usability, and also made some changes to the DualSense Edge for stability.

The PS5's last major update came in March, and it added Discord support and Variable Refresh Rate for 1440p resolution.
