Putting Control Resonant Under A Microscope Is Rewarding In An Unexpected Way https://ift.tt/BWydxQs Over many years, I've written tens of thousands of words covering the Remedy Connected Universe, the Finnish studio's world tying the Alan Wake and Control series together. This is a team that loves rewarding players who notice the smaller details and go off the golden path in search of morsels of understanding. Connecting dots is often much of the fun in a Remedy game.  To my surprise, that side of the developer wasn't on display much in Control Resonant. There are definitely a few nods, and one chain of side quests in particular seems to have greater implications for the studio's future connected-universe games, but overall, I was taken aback by how disinterested Resonant was in tying itself to Remedy's bigger picture. However, it was by looking for those hidden details that I discovered something else I ended up loving about the sequel in a different way. ...

Xbox Game Pass sees the release of two more games this week, one of which we didn't know was coming to the subscription service. The excellent Sea of Stars releases today, August 29, but we already knew about that. Expansive Worlds has confirmed that its open-world fishing game Call of the Wild: The Angler is also headed to Game Pass--and soon. The game hits Game Pass on August 30.

Call of the Wild: The Angler makes its console debut via Game Pass, and it'll also be available for purchase for $30. The Angler is also coming to PS5 and PS4, and PC players can get it through Game Pass for PC or by purchasing it outright. You can check out the video below to hear from the studio about the process of bringing The Angler to console.

The Angler has Performance and Quality modes on PS5 (this is Avalanche's first PS5 game) and Xbox Series X, allowing players to choose between higher frame rate or graphical quality and resolution. The console edition also includes the improvements from the Evolution Update that came to PC recently, introducing an updated tutorial, an overhauled progression system, eight additional fish species, and a variety of quality-of-life updates.
