With Gears of War: E-Day dropping in October, the studio is aiming to bring the franchise back with a bang after a lengthy hiatus. We recently went hands-on with the game--you can check out the video preview below--and our immediate takeaway was that The Coalition hasn't skipped a beat as it still knows how to put together a Gears game that looks and feels great. Set during the cataclysmic events of Emergence Day, Gears of War: E-Day tells the story of humanity's first encounter with the Locust. Outgunned and caught by surprise, it's up to Marcus Fenix to rally the survivors and turn the tide of the conflict. Payday 3 has had a rocky start since it released on September 18, but the long-awaited first patch has finally arrived. Patch 1.0.1 dropped today with a 2GB update across all platforms, fixing a lot of the game's technical issues.

The patch is packed full of fixes for minor issues that have nevertheless plagued players, which you can find listed in full below. One of the major fixes players will be happy about is that all exclusive rewards including pre-order bonuses and platform-specific items have now been allocated correctly. The one exception is the weapon charm and death wish reward from a Payday 2 cross promotion, which Starbreeze Studios says it hopes to fix by the next patch.

The developers behind Payday 3 have apologized multiple times for the game's messy launch, and the patch is a first step towards fixing its issues--and its reputation with players. While the game may yet realize its potential through future patches and updates, at the time of writing Steam charts show Payday 2 still has far more players than the more recent release, with players apparently preferring to stick with the decade-old game.
