It has hired a new CEO, laid off thousands of developers, spun off several studios, and scaled back its multiplatform plans. This past year has been one of pivots and changes in strategy for Xbox, so I wondered if that day-one release commitment for Game Pass Ultimate fell by the wayside.  Over the past year, I have tracked every title added to Game Pass Ultimate the day it launched. A Minecraft Movie continued its impressive run at the box office, earning $80.6 million during its second weekend. That brings the film's domestic take up to $280 million, and combined with its international haul of $269.6 million so far, A Minecraft Movie has now made $550 million worldwide.

Hilariously, there have been reports of a popcorn melee during screenings. While several theater chains aren't ready to comment on their cinemas being flooded with the snack during a certain scene, Regal Movies is encouraging its patrons to go wild for a special Chicken Jockey film screening on April 20.

So where does A Minecraft Movie stand in the grand scheme of live-action video game adaptations on the big screen? For now, it's in second place on the list of highest-grossing video game movies, trailing behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Its jump from ninth to second place shifts other video game adaptations like Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Detective Pikachu, and Uncharted further down the list.
