New Research Proves What We Already Knew: Women Are Underserved By Game Industry https://ift.tt/FprWSK9 Video game companies are overlooking potential female players, according to new research by Ampere Analysis, a London-based data and analytics firm focused on gaming, media, and sports (via VGC ). According to Ampere's latest study, women make up 48% of the current gaming market, and roughly 922 million players are female. Ampere's research states that women largely prefer narrative-driven single-player games over multiplayer games. But perhaps the most interesting bit of info to come out of the firm's latest study is the revelation that a lack of time or money isn't what's keeping women out of gaming. Instead, women were more likely to cite difficulty finding games that suit their needs and offputting player communities/behavior as the main reasons they don't spend more time (and money) on gaming. Amazon and Target have a wild Black Friday deal on the biggest building set in Mattel Brick Shop's Hot Wheels collection. The 1,600-piece Mercedes-Benz 300-SL is on sale for only $48.49 (was $130). Needless to say, this is the best deal on the set since Mattel launched its Brick Shop Hot Wheels collection in August. Multiple other Hot Wheels models are featured in the promotion, including the 918-piece Elite Series Corvette Grand Sport for $29.39 (was $54) at Target.

Similar to Lego and Mega Bloks--which is owned by Mattel--Hot Wheels Brick Shop building sets are pieced together using a variety of different brick types and sizes. Whereas Mega Bloks' Hot Wheels sets are more playful and geared toward younger audiences, Mattel's Brick Shop kits were designed for collectors and car enthusiasts who are looking for authentic models of iconic cars from luxury manufacturers. Each Brick Shop Hot Wheels car has interactive features and comes with swappable accessories as well as a Hot Wheels diecast car. The models are built with pieces that are compatible with Lego, Mega Bloks, and other construction model brands.
