The series began as a manga created by Masamune Shirow, which has seen numerous sequels, film and anime adaptations, video games, and more. The Ghost in the Shell Legacy Edition Manga Box Set includes three deluxe hardcover volumes housed in a slipcover case. The first is the original The Ghost in the Shell that restores the scenes and artwork from the original Japanese version of the manga that were removed for the western release. The set also includes both manga follow-ups, The Ghost in the Shell 1.5: Human Error Processor and The Ghost in the Shell 2.0: Man‑Machine Interface.

Along with the books, the collection also comes with a set of ten 10-ich posters based on the rare 1997 Cyberdelics releases.
