Putting Control Resonant Under A Microscope Is Rewarding In An Unexpected Way https://ift.tt/BWydxQs Over many years, I've written tens of thousands of words covering the Remedy Connected Universe, the Finnish studio's world tying the Alan Wake and Control series together. This is a team that loves rewarding players who notice the smaller details and go off the golden path in search of morsels of understanding. Connecting dots is often much of the fun in a Remedy game. To my surprise, that side of the developer wasn't on display much in Control Resonant. There are definitely a few nods, and one chain of side quests in particular seems to have greater implications for the studio's future connected-universe games, but overall, I was taken aback by how disinterested Resonant was in tying itself to Remedy's bigger picture. However, it was by looking for those hidden details that I discovered something else I ended up loving about the sequel in a different way. ...
It's no secret that PC hardware has gotten very expensive over the last few years (thanks, AI techbros). It's not just graphics cards either, but even RAM and solid-state drives (SSDs) are much harder to find at affordable prices. but if you're looking for a SSD for your PC or PS5, you won't want to miss out on this early Amazon Prime Day deal discounting the 2TB Samsung 990 Pro NVMe SSD to just $370 (was $640). That's a 42% discount on the compact SSD. And if you need more--or less--capacity, you can also score hefty discounts on the 1TB and 4TB versions.
One of the go-to NVMe SSDs for PC and PS5 owners, the 990 Pro is Samsung's flagship M.2 SSD. It offers impressive performance--with read speeds up to 7,450 MB/s and write speeds up to 6,900 MB/s--and Samsung has a reputation for creating high-end storage solutions. One thing to note is that you will need to purchase a heatsink to go with the SSD, but these are easy to come by and thankfully very cheap.
Amazon is selling versions of this SSD with preinstalled heatsinks, but they are much more expensive, and you'll save around $100 by purchasing and applying the cooling block yourself.
As a reminder, a heatsink is required to use M.2 SSDs with the PS5 console. PC owners can also benefit from an SSD, whether it's by quickly adding extra storage capacity or installing games on it that require the extra read/write speeds to function properly.
As mentioned above, you'll need to add your own heatsink to the SSD. This only costs $10, and it comes with everything you need to easily attach it to your SSD. Don't worry about the size of the aluminum block either, as it's designed to still fit seamlessly inside your PS5 console.
Samsung's SSDs are PS5-ready out of the box, and installing them is incredibly easy. Check out our PS5 SSD installation guide to see just how simple the process is.
