With Gears of War: E-Day dropping in October, the studio is aiming to bring the franchise back with a bang after a lengthy hiatus. We recently went hands-on with the game--you can check out the video preview below--and our immediate takeaway was that The Coalition hasn't skipped a beat as it still knows how to put together a Gears game that looks and feels great. Set during the cataclysmic events of Emergence Day, Gears of War: E-Day tells the story of humanity's first encounter with the Locust. Outgunned and caught by surprise, it's up to Marcus Fenix to rally the survivors and turn the tide of the conflict. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was officially revealed following the Xbox Games Showcase, and now a new blog post from Activision confirms players will need continuous internet connection in order to play the game.

Activision says that an internet connection is required to play all modes in Black Ops 6, including the campaign, due to the game's new texture-streaming technology. The statement from the publisher says this requirement is necessary because Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will use texture streaming across all game modes, allowing the developer to "deliver the highest-quality visuals while also reducing the game's overall storage space on your hard drive."

While this can be a bummer for some players just looking to enjoy the story experience offline, Activision says the campaign can still be played on console without a premium subscription service such as Game Pass Core or PlayStation Plus.
