Game director Casey Hudson has stepped in to address these reports-- which may stem from Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier's speculation about when the game will be released -- confirming that the spiritual successor to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic will arrive before the current decade is up. "Don't worry about the 'not till 2030' rumors," Hudson wrote online . "Game will be out before then. I'm not getting any younger!" The epic sci-fi combat of the Halo video game series is getting adapted to official tabletop form with the upcoming Halo: Flashpoint. The skirmish game sees players assemble teams of Halo Spartans or Banished Elites and send them into tactical turn-based battles. Those who have played similar wargames like Warhammer 40,000--especially the smaller-scale Killteam format--will find Halo: Flashpoint's premise and gameplay familiar, but the game's creator, Mantic Entertainment, says it'll be easy to learn for newcomers to the genre.

If you want to get started with the new tabletop wargame, you can preorder the Halo: Flashpoint Spartan Edition box that includes enough minis and terrain for two players to engage in epic Spartan versus Banished skirmishes, plus all the necessary rulebooks, playing cards, and other gameplay pieces to learn to play the game.
