Expectations are high, as the original film won Best Picture and was a smash hit at the box office. It's too soon to say how Gladiator II will fare critically and commercially, but if the first images from the film are anything to go on, it appears Gladiator II is embracing a similarly cinematic and stylish approach. After releasing the first images exclusively to Vanity Fair , Paramount Pictures has now shared a dozen images from the period film with everyone ahead of the film's first trailer debuting on July 9. The images showcase main character Paul Mescal, who plays a grown-up Lucius, along with the characters played by Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, and Denzel Washington.
